Magnificent Mint

The stores are beginning to fill up with fabulous blazers in tweed with elbow patches all the way to burgundy and emerald green. Don't get me wrong, I love it, but before I kiss all of my summer colors goodbye in favor of fall colors, I would like to pay respect to my favorite color of summer: mint.

I found this blazer at The Bay back in June, but I never wore it. I put it on multiple times but ended up taking it off in favor of something cooler because the weather was just too warm to wear it.
Well, with a few weeks of official summer left but with the daytime temperatures dipping just a little, I decided to give this blazer a day out before my whole closet turns from mint and white to camel and black.

This outfit is inspired by Tara at Mix and Match Fashion.
Saw her look on Pinterest and loved it!

Blazer: Allison Daley via The Bay / Blouse: Urban Planet (old) (similar) (similar) / Pants: Nine West (old) /
Clutch: Accessorize / Watch: Michael Kors / Bracelet: Craftistikone on Etsy / Shoes: Sole Society

These pumps are one of my favorite purchases as of late. They are a mid heel so they are easy to walk in, and they are crazy comfortable. The shopping addict in me really wanted to get them in black too, but I talked myself out of it.
Highly recommend!

Anyone who follows me on Instagram knows that I am challenging myself not to spend in September!
My online shopping habit got a little out of hand in July and August, so it was time for an intervention.
If you have been feeling guilty about how many packages have been arriving at your door lately, try the challenge yourself! You might be surprised how many pairs of shoes and sweaters are being neglected in your closet.

As always, thanks for reading!

Fear of Faux Leather

I have said in the past that the Tuesday after a long weekend is worse than any regular Monday, and it just never stops being true! I feel like crawling back into bed and staying there for a week.
Despite the dreaded post long weekend Tuesday, I hope everyone had a great weekend, I know I did.

It started off right, as Friday was my birthday! This is the outfit I wore to go out for drinks with my friends to celebrate.

Top: Old Navy / Leggings: Forever 21 + / Heels: Zara / Clutch: Forever 21 /
Bracelets: Chain Link: Styles for Less (old) (similar), Spikes: ASOS / Necklace: J.Crew Factory

I'm going to admit that it took a lot of courage for me to wear these leggings, both in public and for these pictures. But, I wanted to get over my fear of the faux leather, so I figured I may as well step out of my comfort zone once again for the sake of the blogosphere. Plus they were only $16 at Forever 21, so I figured that if I hated them, it wouldn't be that big of a deal.

It's no secret here that I'm not a size 4, and in my mind, leather pants/leggings aren't all that flattering on gals like myself.
But to be honest, I don't hate them. I think they made for a pretty good pairing with the shoes.

The clutch was a birthday gift from my grandma. Needless to say she has great taste.

Hope everyone has a great week! Thank goodness it's a short one.

Dressing Up Dots

In an attempt to get over a serious case of the Monday's, I'm featuring one of my favorite prints: polka dots!
If I walk into a store and see anything with polka dots, I make a beeline for it immediately. I think it is one of the simplest yet best prints there is.

I saw this skirt at Target on clearance for $12 and had to have it, but then I spent weeks trying to decide what to pair with it. I searched high and low for something "flowy" to go with it. Flowy meaning a nice, simple white top that wouldn't take away from the polka dots. I failed and the skirt was relocated to the back of the closet.

Then I saw a collaborative blog post featuring this skirt by three of my favorite bloggers: Bethany from Perfectly Coutured, Renee from Style with a Story and Meghan from Everyday Fashion and Finance.
Meghan paired her skirt with a red eyelet top, also from Target. A light blub came on! I had the same shirt already hanging in my closet in white.
Lesson learned, I was trying to keep it too simple.
Thanks for the inspiration girls!

Top: Target, old (similar, similar) / Skirt: Target / Watch: Fossil / Bracelet: J.Crew / Bag: Kate Spade / Shoes: Spring

I snagged this bag from Nordstrom Rack while on vacation in Chicago.
If we had Nordstrom Rack in Canada I would be in serious financial trouble - I love that store!

Hope everyone has a fabulous week!

Ripped Jeans and Gold Things

My summer obsession has been gold accessories. Gold watches, gold bracelets, gold necklaces.
I almost feel bad for all of my other non-gold accessories.

I have also been obsessed with distressed denim. The problem was, I couldn't find any that I actually liked. So I was mostly obsessed with looking at other people wearing it.
But, I finally found a great pair from American Eagle (on clearance!) and now I am happy as a clam.

What makes me even happier is pairing the aforementioned two things together.

Shirt: Marshalls find / Jeans: American Eagle / Shoes: Target (similar) (similar) / Necklace: Mint Sugar Boutique / Watch: Michael Kors  / Bracelet: J.Crew Factory /  Bag: Matt and Nat (old) / Sunnies: Rayban

I saw this tassle necklaces on Bethany from Perfectly Coutured and knew it needed to be mine. Not only because it was gold, but because hello? Look at it!

I don't know about you, but I plan to carry my summer obsessions straight with me into fall!

Happy Friday

Happy Friday friends!

In honor of the weekend I thought I would post something fun and a little out of my comfort zone.
This ensemble is an example of me branching out, because I may as well admit nice and early that I'm not much of a dress/skirt person. I usually save them for special occasions.
However, this blog is about trying new things and having fun, and so this outfit covers both of those bases.

I inherited my shopping habit from my mother, who happens to have fabulous taste.
She found this dress at Marshalls - a store you will hear me rave about often - I loved it as soon as I saw it.

Dress: Marshalls find. / Belt: Walmart. Similar here. / Bag: Steve Madden. / Watch: Michael Kors. / Bracelet: Stella and Dot. / Sunnies: Rayban. / Sandals: Tory Burch.

I just love the blue in this dress, and the way the lines run down it is really flattering.

Outfit completed by my favorite sandals ever.

So, I've officially stepped out of my comfort zone for the sake of this blog adventure, and I had fun doing it. I'd call that a win.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.
